For editors

I have been a travel writer since 2006. Travel writing is my
full-time job and I spend approximately six months a year on the road researching stories.

I have written for the majority of the UK’s national newspapers, dozens of magazines and numerous websites. I write destination features, first-person narratives, round-ups and top tens, hotel and restaurant reviews, interviews, news items and guidebooks and am as comfortable putting together content for a website or an iPhone application as I am writing a thousand-word article or 500-page guidebook. You can view a portfolio of my work here.

I have PR contacts in destinations around the world, as well as at
hotels, restaurants, airlines, tour operators and activity providers.

I am flexible and can turn copy around quickly. I have never missed a deadline. Yes, really.

Here’s what some of the editors I have worked with say about me:

“Helen is one of my go-to travel writers and always a pleasure to commission. She proactively suggests ideas, is meticulous in her
research and files lively copy on time and to brief.”
– Rachel Truman, Guardian News and Media

“Helen is my new go-to travel writer. She has proved an invaluable asset in a recent project requiring the creation of a large amount of content to tight timescales with demanding deadlines. Her approach has been entirely positive, proactive and helpful, even when new demands have been placed upon her and goalposts shifted at short notice. Basically, she has been an all-round pleasure to work with. I would heartily recommend her services to anyone.”
– James Teideman, Skyscanner

“I’ve worked with Helen at Rough Guides and at Cool Places and have found her to be skilled, reliable and a pleasure to work with on all occasions. Whether she’s writing, editing or proofreading, she has both the creativity and precision to get the job done.”
– Martin Dunford,

“Helen contributes outdoor adventure stories to the website I edit, United Kingdom Travel. Her work is entertaining and
informative, and she’s flexible enough to tailor stories to the needs of my readers.”
