For PRs

Working effectively with PRs is essential for any travel writer and I have always seen building relationships with PR professionals as vital. I have been working with PRs for many years and have mutually beneficial relationships with dozens of agencies and individuals. I regularly take group and individual press trips and write an average of two to three articles per trip. Please see my case study of a recent press trip to Western Australia for more information on the sort of coverage I am able to generate. You can view examples of my work here.

I am always keen to hear from new PR contacts (see Contact me) so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you think we can work together. In the meantime, please see what others have said about me below.

“Working with Helen has been a PR dream from the first meeting through to seeing the first of several pieces of coverage resulting from her trip to Cornwall. Helen was helpful and gracious throughout the complex set up of her press trip and approached each element of her very busy itinerary with enthusiasm. We love that Helen is happy to talk through ideas, give feedback and develop original content for our clients using her extensive experience in, and evident passion for, travel, food and adventure.”
– Philippa Hill, Wild Card PR – Account Manager for Visit Cornwall

“Helen has been a guest on three of our self-guided walking tours and we are delighted by the coverage to date. She publishes in a great mix of online and offline outlets, writing multiple articles tailored to each publication’s readers. Her first articles are always out quickly, and even months down the line more “bonus” articles appear which we’re thrilled to see! Working with Helen is always efficient, enjoyable, and straightforward, and each time we are confident she will deliver great value.”
– Frances McCann, Marketing Executive for Macs Adventure Limited

“Helen is one of the most hard working travel writers I know! Due to her broad range of contacts she’s great to work with and run through pitch ideas together. She’s an absolute pleasure to host on press trips, providing plenty of energy whilst getting the job in hand completed – I would happily recommend her to clients and other PRs. She researches her destinations thoroughly beforehand and provides a clear brief what is required so the PR team can pull together the right itinerary for her features in plenty of time. She’s also very receptive in picking up on additional angles she might find whilst on location that she can pitch into relevant editors and secure further coverage. She’s always produced really well written content for my clients which not only conveys the right message we’re trying to promote but does so in an engaging and enthusiastic style making her features enjoyable read.”
– Kristel Valaydon, KV Communications

“Rarely have I worked with someone as professional as Helen. She has a true thirst for knowledge and is terrifyingly efficient – her feature (on Cyprus, for The Express) was written on the plane home and published just two weeks later. Two further things to add to this: she is a total whizz on using social media to best effect – and she was a real pleasure to host on our five day trip. I very much hope we will be working with her again in the future.”
– Susannah Glynn, Kallaway

“Helen is a dream to work with. She is incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and bags of fun to work with. I think she must hardly sleep as she produces so much work from each visit, writing for a great range of publications from trade and niche publications to national newspapers. Over the years we’ve worked on a number of trips together and I’ve always been really pleased with the results.”
– Elen Thomas, Tourism Western Australia

“I worked with Helen on a recent press trip she was writing up for The Guardian. Not only was she a flexible and easy journalist to work with but her resulting article was excellent. It ticked all the boxes for our client and kept everyone happy. I hope we can work together again and any PRs with great stories for The Guardian should liaise with Helen as you’ll find her a delight to work with.”
– Samantha Marsh, Infinity Public Relations

“Working with Helen has been a fantastic experience! She worked hard to ensure that we had as many JUCY angles of the story as possible to get the maximum gains from her time in New Zealand. Her travel trade piece quickly saw interest from agents wanting to sign up and sell our campervans. Helen worked quickly to get her writing complete and was a consummate professional throughout. We’re looking forward to having Helen explore some of our other destinations sometime soon!”
